News from the school - can you help us

Dear parents and carers,

Reception children –a positive start

It was so lovely to see our Reception pupils starting school this week– the children are already beginning to settle in well and explore their brand new surroundings. They enjoyed their first lunches and had lots of fun playing with their new friends.

Communication

As a school, we aim to communicate regularly and efficiently so that you know what is going on and coming up at Enfield Heights Academy. We plan to do this in the following ways:

  -  regular reminder texts and weekly (or biweekly) roundup of upcoming events and important information;

  -  a half-termly newsletter celebrating children’s learning

  -  our website and social media platforms

  -  Tapestry for Reception – this will be updated regularly with observations as well as additional information.

Key Dates

Key dates for your diary will feature in our ‘roundup’ information but we also have a calendar on our website with dates of key events.

Please note that all dates are subject to change – we will endeavour to give as much notice as possible for new dates.

Parent volunteers - we need you

As a learning community, we welcome volunteers working with us on a regular basis in our school. Activities may include, listening to readers, helping in the library, accompanying on educational visits. If you are interested in becoming a regular parent volunteer, please contact us at the schools’ office and we will work with our Community Outreach Team who will ensure that the appropriate safeguarding checks are in place for this, including DBS checks and volunteer induction.

If you have previously had a DBS check and have registered on the DBS Update Service, we will be able to use this providing you still have the original certificate you used to register, and will need you to bring this in to Reception in order for us to perform the check.

Are you free between 11.30am -1.30pm? Please come and help us with lunchtimes; supervision in the hall and in the playground. If you are able to help, please contact the school’s office or me, as we would love to have you during our busiest times.

Macmillan Cake sale on Friday 30th September- Volunteers needed

Join us for our first Macmillan fundraiser event on Friday 30th September from 3.10-4pm. We will be hosting this in the playground (or our hall, if it rains) at the end of the school day. We will welcome your cake and biscuit donations. Please leave them in the Reception area (box provided) on Thursday 29th September afternoon or Friday morning before the event. We would also like to ask volunteers to help at the event. Please let us know if you are able to help by contacting the schools’ office.

Thank you in advance.
