A message from your new Headteacher

Dear Parents and Carers,

A happy handover makes all the difference…

Every Thursday over the last few weeks, Mrs Bacon and her team have welcomed me at Enfield Heights Academy to ensure a smooth handover of school’s operational procedures and systems.

I am most grateful for this time and would like to thank Mrs Bacon for a transparent, open and helpful dialogue to allow me familiarise myself with many aspects of EHA’s day-to-day running: its plentiful successes and areas to embed in the near future. I shall work with the legacy I take on and continue to focus on providing the best education for all children.

A warm welcome

A smooth transition has not been the only positive preparation for my headship in September. Saying ‘Hello’ and chatting to the children in their classes and around the school as well as meeting many parents and carers at the International Day and New to Reception coffee morning have definitely helped me to get a taste of EHA’s positive ethos and family feel. I have also met members of our brilliant PTA. Many thanks to everyone for your warm welcome.

Save the date for ‘Meet the Headteacher’ - Friday 23rd September

I will be hosting two sessions to introduce myself; they will be at different times to enable as many families as possible to attend: at 9.00-10.00am and at 5.00-6.00pm. There will an opportunity for you to ask me any questions of your choice and discuss how we can work successfully together in partnership.

Fun things to do with the children over Summer

In the meantime, please enjoy your summer break, ensure the children stay safe, rest and have fun. There are many (free) summer holiday activities in North London. Here are some you could try. I particularly like the Summer Bucket list on page 25.

Good communications is so important

I believe in communicating well and regularly with families. So I will be writing to you at the start of September, to go over a few ‘Starting school’ necessities in preparation for Monday 5th September, when children from Years 1-6 start the new school year. New Reception children will have home visits as set out in their ‘Starting School’ letter.

Finally, I look forward to working with you and your children as well as all EHA’s staff in the new academic year to continue to make a positive difference to the lives and learning of all our children.

Thank you once again to all for a happy handover.

With my very best wishes,

Justyna Powrie
