So proud of our Year 2 children for writing letters to the Council to make sure buildings are fire safe.

Last term, Year 2 children at Enfield Heights were learning about The Great Fire of London and what happened at Grenfell.

The children then wrote persuasive letters to the council asking them to make sure all flats and residential buildings were fire safe.

One of the children shared their letter on Facebook and we arranged an online meeting with the council featuring Cllr Gina Needs, the Cabinet member for Social Housing, and Sarah Stevenson-Jones (Resident Safety Programme Director) at Enfield Council.

Pupils had the chance to share their amazing letters and they also got the opportunity to ask these very important members of the community some questions.

Our Headteacher Mrs Bacon was so happy of the work the children had done and said “The Year 2 children did us proud today with their questions, their responses and their preparation. Giving the children such an opportunity to realise how their letters can make a difference in the world has certainly helped them to realise they can make changes!”.
