Studying the Great Fire of London Year 2 bake bread remembering how the tragedy started

The fire started in a bakery on Sunday, 2nd September 1666 in Pudding Lane near London Bridge and lasted for 5 days.

The bakery belonged to Thomas Farriner and he had forgotten to quench the fire in one of his ovens on Saturday evening and a spark fell onto a pile of sticks and straw, which started the fire.

The devastating fire destroyed one-third of London and made over 100,000 people homeless.

Iconic London landmarks like St Paul's Cathedral were destroyed and had to be rebuilt.
