Justyna Powrie appointed new Headteacher of Enfield Heights Academy

Dear Parents and Carers,

Honoured to become your new Headteacher in September

I am delighted and honoured to be appointed as the new Headteacher for Enfield Heights Academy, and I am very keen to start to get to know all the children, staff and families in our wonderful school community.

I will be working closely with Mrs Bacon until I take over to prepare for the start of the new academic year. Enfield Heights has a history of excellence and I would like to pay my respects to Mrs Bacon, who has made such a significant impact during her leadership of the school and who is loved by you all. I know the children and families will miss her.

A successful and happy school

From my experience, of being a teacher for 21 years and as a senior leader for the last 9 years, I know that a successful and happy school depends on all of us working together. Being a mother myself (daughter Lily, 4 years old starting in Reception this year), I am very much aware of the responsibility that we have in ensuring that the highest standards of teaching and learning are achieved for all the children in our care.  I know that we have a hugely committed team and wonderful children in the school, which of course, is a great place for any new headteacher to start!

My vision for the children

I love working with the children and meeting their individual needs. I strongly believe in providing the children with exciting, creative and meaningful learning experiences, which build their enthusiasm for learning and help them to grow and develop positively in a variety of ways. As the leader of the school, my main job and promise to you is to make sure your child is safe, happy and achieving well every day whilst they are in the classroom with us.

I know how vital working in partnership with parents and carers really is in order for children to find school a positive and rewarding experience. It is important that you have a voice and that it is heard and translates into our school’s ethos.

Listening to you

I will be holding a number of events in the new term, in September, including coffee mornings; Question-Answer session and ‘meet and greets’, which will provide an opportunity to meet you and discuss the building of a successful partnership as the school enters a new period on its journey. There will also be an opportunity for you to ask me any questions of your choice. These meetings will take place at different times, which I hope will enable most families to attend. In the meantime, I will arrange to have a series of hand over sessions with Mrs Bacon to ensure smooth transition takes place.

Finally, I look forward to working with the very talented Enfield Heights team and in partnership with all our families so that together we can continue to make a positive difference to the lives and learning of all our children.

Kind Regards,

Justyna Powrie
